First the good news.  It has been three days now and I am still experiencing record levels of energy and alertness.  I am no longer suffering that mid-day lag I used to have to push my way through.  Needless to say I am quite happy with that! Moreover, the scale this morning reflected a 3 lb decline since I began this diet AND a reduction in about 1/4 inch off my waist.  Now this wasn’t what I would consider an official weigh-in (I will conduct those at the 7, 14, 21, and 28 day marks), but it is still a bit of good news.

Now the bad news.  This diet should come with a warning, and that warning should look something like this….

diarrheaIt has been a bit annoying having to keep venturing to the bathroom throughout the day.  But, this has thus far been more of an annoyance than a problem.

My Day

I rolled out of bed around 8 a.m. and went straight to the Wii for a nice relaxing 16 minute session of Wii yoga.  When I finished with that I downed a 12-hour Elite protein shake mixed with some ice and milled flax seed.  I chased that down with some Benefiber mixed with 12 oz of water.

Around 10:30 a.m. I had an EAS Myoplex light shake mixed with milled flax seed.  Gosh, I never realized how good EAS shakes tasted until I tasted the 12-hour elite shake.

Around lunch, my long suffering wife- who has serious concerns about this diet- begged me to eat something solid.  So I indulged in a Subway turkey and ham spinach salad (w/ tomatoes, green peppers, pickles, and carrots) for lunch (around noon) and about 3 cups of water.

I should mention that after we ate our Subway meal we took our daughter to McDonald’s (because she loves the  play land), and oddly enough I wasn’t really all hungry for the burger she was eating.  I was sipping on a small diet Coke (I allow myself one a day- if that) and just relaxing.  Especially enjoying the fact that I wasn’t tired, like I usually am around noon.

When we got home I spent some quality time with the porcelain chair in the bathroom and then took Lucius for a 28 minute walk.  The weather was great- a beautiful, mildly warm, sunny day.  After that I grabbed an original Myoplex shake, as usual with milled flax seed, and enjoyed its chocolaty goodness.

It was around 5 p.m. when I started compiling my Excel sheet of calories consumed and I noticed that I was way below my 1400 calorie goal.  The solution?  I decided to eat a lean turkey burger for dinner with some onions and sesame seeds.  It was delicious.

I will close out the day tonight with some protein pudding (just low cal pudding mix, skim milk, and 2 servings of 12-hour Elite protein powder).

All in all it was a great day- aside from the intestinal discomfort.  See you tomorrow!

Apparently, they call it the “velocity diet” because it makes the stuff you consume go through you like a bobsled?

I’m so enjoying following your journey with all this (and feel for you with the, err, bathroom distress).

    You aren’t famished though?

I think I’d be gnawing on the table!
