Archive for the ‘journal entry’ Category

All three provide good and useful services, but is any one of them clearly better than the other two?  The reviews are based on the features most of us would expect from a fitness tool/advice site.  For each category/feature I will rate Traineo, Gyminee, and Sparkpeople.  The format is simple, five categories (user-friendliness, groups, nutritional logging, exercise logging, and graphing capabilities) judged by placing each site into first, second, or third place.  First place is awarded 3 points, second place 2 points; third place 1 point.  At the end of this review the points are added up and the winner announced.  Pretty simple, right?  Good, well let’s start the reviews. It was a great day! The A.M. session went well- aside from one funny incident I neglected to share earlier. The funny incident?  As I was sprinting I was not looking at the ground, and as a result I almost stepped on a tortuga (Spanish for turtle).  I noticed him (or her) when my foot was about 5 inches from hitting him square on his shell.  I saw him just in time to push my foot backward.  Unfortunately the repositioning of my foot propelled my upper body forward and I stumbled for several feet- darn near wiping out on my face- before I recovered my balance.  It was worth it though.  I didn’t want it on my conscience that I split the poor little guy’s shell. Here is the in depth info for day 1 of the 10 weeks to a ripped body total transformation challenge. (more…)

If you look to your left you will see a neat new widget for Google Chat.  That way, if I happen to be online, and you are bored or have a question I might be able to answer, you can just click the link and a conversation is only seconds away.

Second, I have started an excel program to chart my daily progress.  I will be posting the sheets on a new blog page for all to see.  That way you can see what I am doing, and maybe find some things you want to copy or even bring to my attention some mistakes I am making.  Yes, I used to post everything directly into a post- I know- but that process was far too long and inefficient.

I hope you enjoy these two new editions to the Total Transformation blog.

Although it was a pretty average day in the weight room, I cruised to a personal best (within the last few years) of 25 minutes running at a pace ranging from 5 to 6.5 mph.  Overall tally:

Time: 30 Minutes (3 minute warm up walk/25 minute run/2 minute cool down)

Calories: 333

Distance: 2.75 miles

So what’s my secret?  After I finish my warm-up walk I put a towel over the time read out on the treadmill and just run to a pre-set song list in my I-Pod.  When the songs run out I stop running. It keeps me moving; I no longer feel tempted to check the time; and the music keeps my mind of the misery that is running.

Only one thing of much importance happened today…

Lots of monkeying around…
