Well since I don’t have much time to type, I have some petting and walking and bladder expressing to do, here is a bit are some pictures of the Kane man after he got home. BTW, if you think you can help us pay for Kane’s surgery click on this link to find out more about how to give.  Even if you can only give $5 or $10 it will mean a lot.  We have already raised over $500 to go toward his medical costs- that means we’ve raised about 15% of the cost of his care and surgery.  I would love to make it to $1,000.

Perhaps I should show you his little corner.  Doctor’s orders, he has to be kept in a small area to minimize movement.

Here is another view… (more…)

He will be home by 5 p.m.  If I find enough time to drag myself away from petting him I will be posting a bunch of Kane pictures tonight.  Heck, I might even throw in some Lucius pictures too.  See you soon.

That is Kane, the black and tan one in the background hamming it up.

Surgery is complete.  Is wasn’t perfect since he did have some spinal degeneration and fusing consistent with his age.  However, the vet was able to remove the flap of bone that was causing his spinal cord to bulge.  His spinal cord is now running straight as an arrow.

Now we are waiting to see if he can fell pain tomorrow.  Even better if he can move his legs tomorrow.  I will take a trip into town tomorrow to meet with his neurologist and of course visit the billing department.  I hate to say this again, but since this wasn’t cheap, if you feel you can afford to help and feel led that way we sure could use the assistance.  We would love to get together about $1,000 from donations if possible. We are also looking into grants and charitable organizations, but have found nothing thus far that will work.

Please keep praying about those grants and also pray that Kane will not only feel pain tomorrow but that he shows signs of movement and control in his hind limbs.  Thanks to everyone!

I just got off the phone with the head neurologist.  The news is mostly good.  Kane will need surgery.  His chances of a significant recovery after surgery are 80-90%.  However, he has apparently had this disc problem for a while so there is some kind of significant build up around it that could cause some complications with the surgery- making it harder to remove.  Please pray that Kane’s surgery is successful and if you can help us with the cost of Kane’s surgery please click here to see how and where to donate to Kane’s surgery fund.  Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement.  We are almost out of the woods.  We will know more in about six hours.
