I must be the world’s worst blogger.  Nary a peep out of me for months on end.  But the truth is, the last several months weren’t so great health wise.  Stuck with terribly painful wisdom teeth, attempting to come in sideways into the teeth in front of them, I was in misery.  A horrible distracting misery.  Without dental coverage and the funds to pay for that kind of thing, I suffered in silence (although I did complain to my wife).  But working out was the furthest thing from my mind, and when I tried to work out I found myself distracted by the pain.  I let everything go to heck: I stopped exercising,  I stopped eating healthy.  Worse than that, some days I ate like a glutton.

The result of my months of sloth and gluttony?  My waist is back up to 39 inches and I weigh 192 pounds.  I am so out of shape I get winded running up the driveway.  My belly jiggles when I brush my teeth.  This is SO uncool!

I am taking some big steps to get back on track.

  1. Back to protein shakes between meals.
  2. Back to eating 6 meals a day (about 2-3 hours between meals and snacks).
  3. A return to reasonable portion sizes (no second helpings- or third helpings)
  4. More veggies, meats, and fruit, and less processed grains and junk food
  5. Almost ZERO dining out.

Finally Better…

jumping-jacksWell here it is almost a full month later and I finally feel 100%.  Unfortunately, it has been so long since I’ve trained that 100% now doesn’t feel as good as it used to.  Add on to that the fact that in less than three or four weeks school will be out, which means I will no longer have access to a proper gym (free weights, machines).  (more…)

Thanks to all those who stopped by and checked up on me. I just wanted to let you know I am doing well. At the moment I am suffering a miserable cold with the usual sore throat and cough- but it should pass by Saturday.

Ninja Warrior training has been going well. I have to admit to not being consistent enough with my Tuesday and Thursday training, as it is all too easy to get wrapped up in my school work. Speaking of which, I am grading all the time these days, conducting review sessions, and spending lots of time on my discussion sections. I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to teaching. I expect to get back on board with blogging come next Monday, so hang in there just a bit longer.

And since I know many of you are wondering, let me give you an update on Kane. He is doing quite well. He is now able to stand on his own for a few minutes and can walk across the room. However, he still needs help keeping his back end balanced or he just falls over to the side.

The Lord has blessed us through Kane’s doctor, since it looks like she will be able to get Kane into a medical trial of a drug that should aid in his recovery. The study includes FREE physical therapy. Yeah, I know, I am very excited!

See you guys soon.

Today my wife and daughter got a chance to go visit Kane at the hospital- I am quite jealous.  Judging by the pictures all three of them had a lot of fun.

My wife got to meet Kane’s doctors- who are by the way totally awesome!  You couldn’t imagine kinder, more knowledgeable, nicer, more considerate and patient doctors than the three doctors (one is a professor and the other two are residents).

They were even nice enough to answer my question about whether life in a vet hospital is anything like Scrubs.  Their answer.  It is more like Scrubs than Grey’s Anatomy.

Well without further adieu, here are tow videos of Sasha and Kane playing around.  Well mostly it is her playing around and Kane tolerating her.

And this…
