As many of you might already know, I’ve got a real tendency to procrastinate.  I have to make a deliberate effort at self-discipline to keep myself on the ball.  It is part a problem that my mind constantly seeks new puzzles to solve and loses interest once I figure out the solution- even if I haven’t fully implemented that solution.  Some tasks, like learning a new language, bore me to tears.  But these are things I must do.  My to do list for this summer includes:

  1. Learn Spanish: To develop a fluency in reading the language NOT speaking it.
  2. Research: I would like to have a paper ready for publication by December 2008/January 2009 (more…)

My wife and daughter just got home from visiting Kane in the hospital.  I hate to admit it, but my wife got better pictures than me.  Those pictures (and video) will be up later tonight or tomorrow.  I will also post about my workouts tomorrow and pose an interesting moral question to you, my faithful readers.  See you again soon.

I was dumping the compost bin outside the other day when an idea struck me.  Nope, it wasn’t a great opening sentence for my novel.  Nope, it wasn’t a replacement for oil that is both cheap and clean.  Instead, I thought to myself, “wouldn’t it be neat if I could do a split!?”  Of course I am forced to admit that at no point in my life have I ever been able to perform a split of any kind.  So what was I to do? When I finish grading- which will hopefully happen tomorrow- I will be posting on my workout plans for this summer.  I am going to hit the gym for one last time tomorrow, and after that I am back to good old fashioned workouts in my yard with no high tech gym equipment.

And tomorrow you can expect to see a few sample workouts for this coming summer, some of the equipment I am building and/or ordering for this coming summer.  See you tomorrow.

BTW, if you have any suggestions for homemade equipment feel free to post in the comments section.

With final projects due next week, my blogging will be pretty limited for the next week or so.  You can expect several fitness related video postings over the course of this week, but not much more.  After finals are over I will be putting up some new content.  The first post back will list (and probably include pictures of) over 2 dozen exercises you can do at your local park.  You can’t be a full workout that is entirely free!  Well maybe not entirely free, but heck since you have to pay taxes might as well take advantage of what they provide instead of throwing down $100s of dollars on a gym membership.

As always, best of wishes in your fitness endeavors, and keeping dropping by for more fitness info, personal stories, and entertainment.

I have been enjoying my Spring Break this week, and by enjoying I mean catching up on school work.  Come Monday though it is back to business- the business of being fit.  If you could look into my workout planner you would see the following schedule:

Monday: High Intensity Workout

Squats, Bench Press, Shoulder Press, Dead lifts, and Dips (and a few other exercises)…

Jump Rope, Shuttle Sprints, Grape Vines, Mountain Climbers…
