Well here is the first (and quite incomplete) version of our introduction book. Tell me what you think. Anything we should take out? Add in? Anything you particularly like or dislike? Drop a comment and let me know. And since I can’t resize this, just click on the link to see the whole 14 or so slide presentation.

I think it is great! A nice little peek into your family. Is there any way to show the room you are working on, as well? If not, it is definitely enough proof that you are a pleasant and suitable family for any child.

  3. Hi Amheen. I blogged some pictures of the room here

And to see the after (or better to say in between) photos click on the link below

Remember, it is a work in progress.

John, that is beautifully done. Makes me want to have you adopt me. I think the birth mothers will find that very appealing.

  5. “I think the birth mothers will find that very appealing.”

The children we are adopting unfortunately have little to no contact with their birth mothers. The courts have found enough reason to terminate parental rights- which usually mean their birth parents are either dead or they did some seriously bad stuff to their child(ren).

    Really nice…..
The page that says “explore church” is a little out of order and I want to see something about exploring church if you do add it. I had a few people look at it like they were prospective parents – people we didn’t know very well. I asked them to point out things that struck them. One thing I noticed was a picture of you playing the video games and the room had LOTS of books. If I was a PBM who loved reading this would strike me. The house pics are good too – if she likes flowers and wants her child to have lots of yard to play in – that will be another thing…
Remember that this is a woman with all sorts of different tastes and background. One family at our agency wasn’t picked and one of the comments about their book was that their house looked too clean and they were afraid the mom was too strict. They did their book over and showed a bunch of kids eating ice cream cones on a white couch and they were picked! You just never know what will appeal to who. One lady was afraid they would never be picked because she was so overweight. They were picked right away because the PBM was overweight too. As long as you are yourselves – you’ll get the right match!
    Blessings!

I re-read my post and it sounds like I had a bunch of strangers look at your slide show – I meant they looked at ours – lol

  8. “The page that says “explore church” is a little out of order and I want to see something about exploring church if you do add it”

Actually, Explore Church is the name of our church. The page isn’t done yet, I need to get some pictures of our church and the folks in it.

“If I was a PBM who loved reading this would strike me.”

That was only about a quarter of the book shelves in my home. 😉 As an academic I am required to own thousands of books. I think my home could be designated a library.

“One family at our agency wasn’t picked and one of the comments about their book was that their house looked too clean and they were afraid the mom was too strict.”

No one will EVER make that claim about our house!

BTW, what does PBM stand for?

Do you have anyway to resize any of your individual pics on the template?

    I think it’s looking great!

  10. Why? Were they too small? Did you click on the link and view in full screen size blessed?

Great pics John. The NC Zoo, is that in Asheboro? I’ve been there.

I think it’s a great balance. I have no idea what agencies look for, but you’ve shown a lot of love in these pictures and a lot of different aspects. Do you have any pictures of your child’s room? Will your adopted child share a room with you little girl? Maybe it’s in there and I missed it.

  12. “The NC Zoo, is that in Asheboro?”

Yup. And bes thing about it, you can by a years pass for two adults and two children for $69 dollars. Cost of one visit to the zoo for 2 adults and 2 children- $42 dollars. Make two trips and it has already paid for itself. We’ve used our one year pass three times already this year with 5 months to go.

“Do you have any pictures of your child’s room? Will your adopted child share a room with you little girl? Maybe it’s in there and I missed it.”

The room pictures will be added later and the book will conclude with pictures of the spare room- which will be our adopted child(ren)’s room. The book is a work in progress. I would say it is about 60% complete at this point.

    Hi John,

Thanks for sharing. I must say that Kane looks pretty scary but he seems to be pretty friendly. I just hope I don’t meet him in a dark alley one day…

    You have a wonderful family.

    God bless.
