Help Our Dream
Ever find a few cents laying around or a few bucks in the fold of a jacket you haven’t worn in a couple years?
Ever wanted to help someone achieve a dream?
Ever want to be part of an interesting social experiment?
If you answered yes to at least two of the three above questions, maybe you might want to consider what I am going to say next.
I am trying to put together the money to finance a dream I’ve had for quite some time. You can read a detailed account of that dream by clicking here. But for those of you with short attention spans (you know who you are) a few of the things we are hoping to achieve include:
1. Finance the purchase of a moderately sized piece of farm or ranch land (about 20-60 acres).
2. Build on that land our private home- nothing too fancy or big and uber earth friendly. Also several smaller houses to be used for reasons described below.
3. Start a successful animal rescue (dog/horse).
4. Use that rescue as a ministry opportunity to help at risk youths learn discipline and the importance of responsibility. Admittedly this sounds cheesy, and we are still learning lots about how this program has been used with other populations (currently it is used in prisons). Ultimately, it can give both a few good dogs and a few great kids a second shot.
5. A functioning farm- to what degree we aren’t yet certain- from which we can sell enough products to pay the bills and donate the rest to local individuals and charities in need of those resources.
6. A functioning grove and garden that can also be used to finance the farm, as well as an opportunity for ministry to those in need. We plan on opening the fields after a certain point in the season to all comers. Right now we are basically trying to understand and copy the Torah laws regarding charity and agricultural production.
Obviously this is a big project. Admittedly, chances are we might fall entirely on our faces at any point. We have a plan, but it is still quite tentative. And what guarantee do you have that I won’t take the money and buy booze and comic books? Well, just my word. Which I hope by now, after 8 months of sharing this grueling weight loss journey AND some awfully embarrassing pictures of my flabby self, mean something.
So if you have a few bucks laying around in your PayPal account or you just want to send a dollar or two our way, give a click on the below icon. I am curious to see what the hundreds of people who have viewed this blog over 51,000 times since February can do even if only 10% of them contribute to this dream. For those of you who do, thanks. For the rest of you, you are still allowed to view my blog, no hard feelings. May God bless you all!
Legalese: Your donation is NOT tax deductible. And keep in mind that PayPal takes .30 cents plus 1.9% of any transaction. So for every dollar donated PayPal takes .31 cents.
